The Story Behind the Red Lantern

March is here, and while we still have some winter weather on the horizon, some of these warm spells we’ve been experiencing have us dreaming of chickens on pasture again. While we wait, we thought it would be fun to take you all back to a bit of our origins and share with you the story of how we came up with the name Red Lantern Ranch.

 Over a decade ago now, a boy living in upstate New York made the trip to Minnesota to visit his brand new girlfriend in Alexandria. It just so happened that Lake Carlos State Park was having a New Year’s Eve lantern lit walk that made for the perfect little date. The picture of us above was taken that very night - on our first ever lantern walk. It was such a sweet time for us, and over the years, these chilly lantern walks became a special tradition for us.
